As for treatments, I was looked after by the entire spa and Ayurvedic center team (including Neil, Jerry, and Orianne) under Mandabi’s guidance. I enjoyed a rich yet balanced program tailored to my needs—determined during an initial consultation—that alternated between yoga, Ayurvedic treatments (various massages using oil blended specifically for me), spa activities (sauna, steam room, sensory shower), consultations, and high-tech treatments.
I was impressed by the quality of the treatments, the level of care, and everyone's friendliness, as well as the flow management: throughout my stay, I felt like the sole focus of attention, even though the facility was bustling.
Regarding meals, I enjoyed the excellent buffet breakfast at Le Cep, served until noon! This is incredibly convenient when you’re on a wellness retreat with morning activities scheduled; personally, I can't imagine doing yoga on a full stomach!
For dinner, I appreciated the Indian vegetarian meals from the "LunchBox" restaurant, prepared especially for me. I enjoyed them so much that I even went back to LunchBox for lunch outside of my retreat schedule.
As for accommodation, I was upgraded to a "1er Cru" room—the room categories mirror Burgundy wine classifications ;). The room was incredibly spacious and comfortable, and even included a kitchenette. Mine overlooked a small interior courtyard; it was very quiet, aside from neighbors who seemed to think slamming the door was the only way to close it!
And then, because "you have to treat yourself," Mandabi suggested—and gave the green light for—me to take some time to enjoy some wine, and she even arranged the initial introduction to the sommelier. I booked a tasting session at the Caveau St. Félix with Sébastien, Le Cep’s sommelier. It was extraordinary. He gave me a quick historical tour of the hotel courtyards on our way to the wine cellar, introduced me to the brand-new cigar tasting area, and then showed me the cellar itself. He then shared his passion with me, guiding me through the discovery of various Burgundy wines and the work of the winemakers. I was able to taste different appellations—some more prestigious than others, but all excellent. It was a wonderful encounter—both with the man himself and the wines he is so passionate about—and he devoted far more time to it than originally scheduled; for that, I thank him again.
My stay at Le Cep and the Ayurvedic treatment program at the Ste Marie de Bourgogne holistic spa were exceptional—surpassing all my expectations. Everything was outstanding: the quality of the treatments and care; the kindness, friendliness, and empathy of the entire staff; the private experiences (such as the tasting and the spa’s H2O area); and the excellent management of guest flow within the spa.
Beyond the sheer enjoyment and appreciation, I came away feeling deeply rejuvenated and centered. Thank you all; I will certainly be back with pleasure.
PS: @JCB, you have a truly beautiful establishment and a magnificent team.
