Abhyanga literally means "application of oil to the entire body". This treatment, rooted in the Ayurvedic tradition of northern India, is attributed with virtues that go beyond a simple relaxing and toning effect.

Practiced with warm oil and a specific oleation technique, it harmonizes the vital energy of the body through slow and fluid movements, expressed as gliding or pressing strokes.

Kneading, smoothing, gentle stretching, friction and tapping balance the 3 doshas and consequently the different functions of the body.
